Alice Belle Hopkins

Alice Belle Hopkins, lifetime resident of Plattsmouth, Nebraska passed away June 10, 2013 at the age of 83 with her children by her side. Alice was proceeded in death by her parents, Pete & Marie Gradoville, husband Lowell B. Hopkins (Gus) in 1980, brother, Robert Gradoville and sister, Geraldine Blackburn. She is survived by her sister, Delores Frazier of Plattsmouth, daughters Nancy Gleason of Omaha, Sheri Biskup and her husband, Steve of Colorado Springs, Co,, Laura Skinner and her husband, Bud of Atlanta, Ga and her son Casey Hopkins and his wife Micaela of Omaha. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Tena McCormack and her husband Robert, Zachary Biskup, Taylor Biskup, Amanda Skinner, Jessica Skinner, and Lauren Skinner and two great grandchildren Dylan and Quinn McCormack. Alice Belle Gradoville was born in Omaha, NE to Pete and Marie (O’Donnell) Gradoville May 24, 1930. Alice graduated from Plattsmouth High School, class of 1948. She married Lowell B. Hopkins in a small ceremony in Plattsmouth June 4, 1949. Alice and Gus raised their four children in Plattsmouth in the same home that Alice lived in most of her life. Alice began her career with the Plattsmouth Post Office in 1964. Her career with the Postal Service spanned 26 years. Alice was proud to be the First Woman Carrier in Cass County, Nebraska. Alice's interests included bowling, Garden Club, traveling, Bingo, and the art of crochet. She produced countless works of art including blue ribbon awards for her handmade afghans. Her volunteer services were with the VFW Aux. and Eagles Club. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Father Thomas Au officiating. Visitations will be on Friday, June 14th from 1-5 pm with family receiving friends 3-5 pm at Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
