Barbara Embury of Plattsmouth died Tuesday February 21 at the age of 74.
Barbara M. (Yenney) Embury was born March 3, 1937, at Norfolk, NE, the daughter of Ernest and Erna Yenney. She grew up in Plattsmouth and attended Plattsmouth High School. Barb married Bobby Leah Embury I on February 5, 1956 in Plattsmouth. Following their marriage the couple lived in Wichita for a few years but spent over 40 years living in Plattsmouth.
Barb was a caring compassionate wife, mother and grandmother. She was always extremely proud of her children's accomplishments and her grandchildren.
For many years Barb owned and operated the Dog and Suds restaurant in Plattsmouth. She often spoke with pride about her “Dog and Suds girls” who worked for her over the years.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bobby Embury I of Plattsmouth; three children: Bobby Embury II and his wife Diane of Plattsmouth, Michael Embury and his wife Linda of Omaha and Linda Ruden and her husband Philip of Omaha. Eight grandchildren Joel Embury, Luke Embury, Kaitlyn Embury, Alexander Ruden, Lauren Ruden, Kristin Embury, Ellen Ruden and Eric Ruden; one brother: Walter Yenney and his wife Mary of Plattsmouth, Sister in law Una Yenney of Omaha and close family friend Marijean VanDenack of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her son: Ernest Earl; her parents Ernest and Erna Yenney; and Brother Darrell Yenney.
Visitation: (Closed Casket) Friday, February 24 from 1 to 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Services: Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:00 P.M.at the Murray Christian Church – Murray, NE, with the Rev. Larry Hammons officiating.
Interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Weeping Water, NE.
