Betsy B. Shera

Betsy B. Shera was born January 8, 1932 in Omaha, NE to Carl and Ruby (Blair) Cole. She passed away on April 1, 2015 at the Louisville Care Center. She spent her young life in Brule, NE. She moved to Plattsmouth, where she attended Plattsmouth High School. On April 17, 1949 she wed Charles R. (Bob) Shera in Plattsmouth, NE. She became a busy homemaker with the birth of their children Ray, Larry and Donna. Betsy is survived by her sons: Ray (Cindy) Shera – Louisville, NE, Larry (Janie) Shera; daughter: Donna (Dan) Leaman all of Plattsmouth, NE : grandchildren: Jennifer (Gary) Adkins – Plattsmouth, Joseph Shera - Louisville, Carissa (Jeff) Jones – Spangdahlem, AFB - Germany, Melissa Foust,-Louisville, Julie (Will) Wischmann - Ashland, Tiffany (Matt) Moore-Plattsmouth, Miranda Leaman (Andrew Iwen)-Omaha, Jared, Breanna and Stevie Rye; great grandchildren: Coby Smallridge, Hannah Shera, Samantha Jones, Charlie Shera, Hailey Jones, Carter Adkins, Jaxson Foust, Emma Wischmann; sister: Darlene (Max) Peterson – Grant, NE. She is preceded in death by her parents Carl & Ruby (Blair) Cole, husband Charles (Bob) Shera, brother and sister-in-law Clayton and Irl Cole. Betsy was an active member of the First Christian Church in Plattsmouth where she was a deaconess and belonged to the women’s group. She filled her days with traveling, sewing and was an excellent cook. Watching the Chicago Cubs and Nebraska Huskers gave her great joy along with attending many school activities for her children and grandchildren. Gardening was a way of life and her biggest thrill was making her family happy. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 3, 2015 at 1:00 PM. at First Christian Church Plattsmouth, NE. with Rev. Michael Lincoln officiating. Visitation is Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 1 until 8 PM with the family present from 6 – 8 at the Harvey Funeral Home Plattsmouth, NE.
