Betty Jo Powell

Betty Jo Powell, age 78 of Plattsmouth, NE was born January 30, 1934 near Clearfield, IA to Rolley and Jean (Gardner) Keller. She graduated from Clearfield High School. Betty started her working career at Mutual of Omaha and then went to work at Offutt for the base exchange doing inventory and bookkeeping. She then went on to work for Offutt credit Union before the merger with SAC where Betty retired after 26 years. She was united in marriage on April 10, 1953 to Raymond Dillehay in Council Bluffs, IA and together they raised two children, Tony and Jeff. After Raymond’s death, she was united in marriage to Herbert Powell on September 2, 1972 in Glenwood, IA. Betty was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 2543, a Golden Eagle of F.O.E. #365 where she was very active. She was a breast cancer survivor also. She loved to read, crochet, garden and enjoyed crafts. Family gatherings were a very special time for her. Betty was preceded in death by her parents: first husband: Raymond Dillehay. She is survived by Husband: Herbert Powell, Plattsmouth; Children: Tony Dillehay & special friend Janice Ritter, Kearney, Jeff (Cathy) Dillehay, Lincoln; Step-Children: Patricia Greene, Omaha; Thomas Powell, Baltimore, MD; Grandchildren: Andrew and Jessica Dillehay, Alexandra & Jennifer Greene, Katie Mears; Great Grandchild: Parker Stroup. Her funeral Service will be held Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at 11 A.M. at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel, Plattsmouth, NE. with Rev. Michael McGregor officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment Pleasant Ridge Cemetery following the service.
