Bonita L Wilkerson

April 3, 1953 — April 5, 2015

Bonita “Bonnie” Louise Rabbass Wilkerson Bonita “Bonnie” Louise Rabbass Wilkerson, born Apr 3, 1953, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 5, 2015 (Easter) at the Bellevue Medical Center ICU. She had fought a long battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis before succumbing to it and complications. She was the wife of Walter “Doug” Wilkerson for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willmond Rabbass of Fremont, NE, and Chrystal Krause Rabbass of Bellevue, NE. She is survived by brother Dan (Jan) Rabbass of Omaha, NE, husband Doug of Plattsmouth, NE and four children whom she loved dearly, sons Daniel Jefferis and Joshua (Pam) Goodman, all of Yorktown, VA; daughters Wendy (Steve) Winger of Lancaster, WI and Jennifer (Jason) Wess of Denver, CO. She is survived by five grandchildren whom she adored (Natalie, Ryan, Maddie, and Isabel Winger and Chandler Wess). She had many other children she claimed as “adopted grandchildren,” who she proved many times over that love knows no boundaries. Bonnie was employed at Creighton Medical Center for over 25 years, where she worked in the pulmonary lab as a Respiratory Therapist. She followed her dream and returned to school, graduating in Jan, 2008 with her Massage Therapist Certificate and her AAS Degree in Sept, 2008. She opened her own business, Cloud Nine Massage and Spa, until her health forced her to close it. She used her crafting skills to create wonderful treasures that she sold at the local farmer’s market in Plattsmouth. Deeply devoted to Christ and serving others in His way, she was a member of First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth, where she was Council Secretary for many years, member of the Ladies Guild, Choir, craft groups, a trained Stephen Minister, and aggressively tried to support Operation Barnabus (ministry to the military). She served in the children’s program where she acted out the role of ‘Albie,’ a problematic bird that had difficulty learning her Bible verses. A die-hard Omaha Beef football fan, she loved attending the games and ringing her cowbell. Visitation will be at First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth on Wednesday, Apr 8 from 6 to 9 PM. with the family greeting and receiving friends. Bonnie’s funeral will be held at First Lutheran Church on Thursday, Apr 9 at 10:30 AM with visitation immediately preceding it from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Pastor Lloyd Stuhr will be officiating. A luncheon will follow hosted by the ladies of First. The burial will take place at the Union Cemetery in Cedar Bluffs, NE on Thursday, Apr 9, 2015 at 1:30 PM. Pallbearers will include Daniel Jefferis, Joshua Goodman, Steve Winger, Cory Otool, Ed Vincent, and Howard Hanson. The family recommends memorials be made to First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth, or to Operation Barnabus (http://www.lcms.org/operationbarnabas). Arrangements are being handled by Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE.
