Charlene Meisinger

Charlene Meisinger was born on August 1, 1935 in Newkirk, Oklahoma to Loynel and Mabel (Lane) Haney. She passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 8 days. Charlene moved to Plattsmouth at a young age and graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1953. After graduation, she was united in marriage to V. Leon Meisinger on January 2, 1954 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Together they made their home on a farm east of Louisville and raised their three children, Teri, Nancy and Todd. She was an active individual throughout her life, whether following children and grandchildren’s activities or participating in her various hobbies. She spent many years babysitting for a loving family, a time she enjoyed greatly. Charlene enjoyed spending time with friends, playing Pinochle, Pitch, Mexican Train, Rummicube and Bunco. She enjoyed the many gatherings at friend’s house to play cards or watch Nebraska Football or the Sunday morning breakfast after church with the gang and she always looked forward to the Louisville Lunch Bunch time too. She was active with the Plattsmouth Senior Center and the Plattsmouth Alumni Association. She was named a Lady of the Realm and was active with the Korn Klub for many years. Charlene is survived by her children, Teri Ross of Lozano, TX; Nancy & Bruce Johnson of Plattsmouth, NE; Todd & Julie Meisinger of Omaha, NE, 6 grandchildren, Tisha Ross and friend Alfonso Gutierrez, Jr. of Texas, Kyle Johnson, Christopher Johnson and fiancé Samantha Marling, Kaitlyn Johnson all of Plattsmouth, Rachel Meisinger and Erin Meisinger both of Omaha, 5 great grandchildren, nieces Jan & Ron Snow and Mary Haney, nephews, Joseph & Pam Haney and Paul Haney, and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Haney all of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leon Meisinger, son-in-law, John Owings, nephew David Haney, 3 brothers, Wendell, Jack and Billy Haney. Memorial Services will be on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth with Rev. Steve Eldred officiating. Visitation (No Viewing) will be on Wednesday, May 13th from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
