Charles E West

March 24, 1950 — February 12, 2016

Charles E. "Chuck" West age 65 of Plattsmouth, NE was born on March 24, 1950 in Manilla, Iowa to Donald and Arlene (Ferry) West. He passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 surrounded by family at Nebraska Medicine Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Chuck grew up on a farm in Iowa. While he took on many careers in his life his first love was always farming. Chuck often worked multiple jobs to provide the best life for his family. In April of 1987 Chuck met Vicki Aylor. They knew right away they would spend their lives with each other. Together they combined the lives of their five children into a loving family. Chuck and Vicki were united in marriage on June 15, 1996 at the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth. Chuck had many hobbies and interests. He was a local legend in the fast pitch softball circuit. His 96 mph pitch is still spoken of today. Chuck took great pride in his yard, which earned him master gardener of the year. Passersby always stopped to enjoy his beautiful creations. As his creativity expanded Chuck discovered his artistic abilities as a metal artist. Having a special connection to the farm he enjoyed attending auctions and farm sales in search of unique items to use in his art. For a man who could not swim he sure felt at home next to the water with a fishing pole in his hand. Over the years, Chuck became a regular at Plattsmouth Keno. He built a community of friends while enjoying his favorite game. Chuck loved to dance with his wife and his daughters. He was a strong lead and could work the dance floor like no other. Chuck’s kindness, generosity, loving light heartedness and humor will always be remembered by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by parents, Donald & Arlene West.
