Daisy D. Richards, age 96, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska passed away peacefully on April 15, 2023, at her home at Bailey Pointe Assisted Living.  She was born on September 7, 1926, on a farm northwest of Gandy, Nebraska to Charles and Cynthia (Philpot) Dill.

She attended school in Gandy until the family moved to Plattsmouth where she attended High School.  During High School, she worked for Knorr’s Dime Store.  On October 20, 1944, Daisy married the love of her life, Albert R. Richards at the Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth.  To this union two children, Ronald and Connie were born.  Daisy’s husband Albert died in 1956 which left her to raise her two small children and provide for her family.  She went to work for the Style Shop and later Gambles Store for several years before taking a job at the Glenwood State Hospital as a child development specialist, retiring in 1991.

Daisy loved to travel and made a point to take advantage of her vacation time each year to see new places.  She loved flowers, gardening and bird watching, keeping her birds well fed.  She gretly enjoyed word searches, crafts and spending time with her friends.  She found joy and passion in reading and writing.  She spent many years writing her own story, documenting her life from a young child through her most recent years.  Most importantly she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  They were always her pride and joy.  Throughout the years, she was an active member of the Lepert-Wolever V.F.W. Auxiliary #2543 and the Eagles Auxiliary #365.

She is survived by her children, Ronald Richards of Plattsmouth, NE, Connie (Frank) Pohlmeier of Omaha, NE, grandchildren, Charles Shipley, Robert Shipley, Jason (Cristy) Richards, Jamie (Stuart) McMillan and Jeremy (Alyse) Richards, great grandchildren, Seth Page, Caleb Page, Nick Page, Maddison McMillan, Brady McMillan, Blakely McMillan, Kaitlynn Richards, Parker Richards and Carter Richards, great great grandson, Oliver Page.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert Richards, granddaughter, Kimberly Page, son-in-law, Charles Shipley, two brothers, three sisters, three brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Donna Alm.

A memorial service will be held on June 5, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.

A burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
