Daniel “Dan” D. DeLancey, 65 of Murray, passed away on July 16, 2024. He was born on September 25, 1958, to Richard “Dick” & Janis (Root) DeLancey in Lincoln. Dan graduated from Ashland High School. On October 11, 1985, he married Lisa Stephens in Omaha.
Dan had a distinguished 42-year career as a Locomotive Engineer for BNSF, a role he held with immense pride. He was also a man of diverse interests and hobbies. Dan enjoyed restoring classic cars, riding his Harley Davidson, and playing his guitar. He shared his passion for music by teaching Brad and Karmen to play. Dan also had a love of carpentry and built his family’s home along with many others. He never met a stranger and would go out of his way to help anyone in need. Most importantly, Dan cherished his family and loved being a grandpa, affectionately called Papi by his grandkids. He will be remembered as a perfectionist, but above all, for his integrity.
He is survived by his wife Lisa; children Robin (Emily) Kush, Bradley (Nichole) DeLancey, Karmen DeLancey; grandchildren Avree, Cayd, Colton, Elise, Levi & Kennedy; parents Dick & Janis DeLancey; siblings Sheri (Mitch) Miller, Suzie (Dan) Buss; mother-in-law Judy McNolte; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Lea & Doug Sullivan also many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Harvey Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsmouth. The service will be livestreamed on the Harvey Facebook page.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 22nd from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
