Daniel “Dan” Joseph Kavulak, 72, of Murray, passed away November 10, 2021 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Dan was born November 19, 1948 in Omaha, NE to Frank and Wilhemina (Weverka) Kavulak.
In 1967, Dan graduated from Omaha South High School. He was united in marriage to Elaine Hague on September 5, 1970 and together they raised two children, Lee and Shelly. They later divorced in 1990, several years later, Dan met Pam (Edwards) Hart and they were married on December 17, 2005 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth. Throughout his working years, he worked at Western Electric and retired from OPPD as a toolman in 2007. After his retirement, he was a cook at Happy Hearts Daycare until his passing.
Since his marriage to Pam, Dan quickly became “Grandpa Dan” to many children at Happy Hearts Daycare. He enjoyed painting, cooking, playing Santa and making Christmas ornaments for the children.
Dan was a member of the IBEW and UEW Union and Hosanna Lutheran Church where he enjoyed time with the Men’s Group. He enjoyed gardening and canning much of his harvest. He won many ribbons throughout the years with entries at the Cass County Fair. Dan also enjoyed quiet time on the bank of the river or lake catching fish.
Dan is survived by his wife, Pam Hart-Kavulak of Murray, NE, his partner in happiness, Spike his dog, his children, Chad Hart (Misty) of Plattsmouth, NE, Lee Kavulak (Carrie Morris) of Winnetoon, NE, Michelle Hart of Omaha, NE, Stacey Hart (Dana Newburn) of Johnson Lake, NE, , grandchildren; Zoe Hart (Pat Mack) of Bennington, NE, Morgan Kavulak (Fiancé Allen Morsett) of Branched Oaks, NE, JeVon Lewis-Hart of Plattsmouth, NE, Jordan Kavulak of Seward, NE, brother Paul Kavulak, Sr. Louisville, NE, sister-in-law, Char Smith of Omaha, NE, brother-in-law, Robert Apprich of Plattsmouth, NE, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, brother John Henry Kavulak, daughter Shelly Kavulak, son Todd Hart, sisters-in-law Caren Apprich and Mary Alice Kavulak, and lifelong friend Stephen Bartak
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth, NE with Rev. Jim Spanjers officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, November 19, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hosanna Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Plattsmouth, Nebraska
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation
