Dariel "Woody" D Woodward

Dariel D. “Woody” Woodward was born on August 13, 1932 in Ironwood, MI.  He passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at his home in Plattsmouth, NE.  Dariel grew up in Michigan where he graduated from high school.  He served in the US Air Force retiring after 21 years as a Tech Sgt.  Dariel served during the Korean and Vietnam wars.  After his military service he went to work for the US Postal Service, where he spent 20 years as a carrier in the city of Plattsmouth, NE.   Dariel is survived by his wife Lou Woodward – Plattsmouth; children:  Dawn (Tom) Kintzle – Irvington, KY and Merri (Eric) Staley – Omaha, NE, Steve (Ricki) Whitley – Grants, NM, Nathan (Bonnie) Whitley – Los Lunas, NM; step-children: Linda (Jerry) LeDoux – AR, James Carr – Bellevue, Steven Carr – Omaha, Matt Sturgeon – Patterson, CA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  Brother Rick (Cheryl) Niemi and sister Becky Niemi all of Marenisco, MI.  He was preceded in death by his parents:  Harry J. and Elsie Woodward; wife Gena Woodward and a son Harry Woodward.  Dariel was a member of V.F.W. Post 2543 in Plattsmouth and the North American Hunting Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his computer and reading westerns.  A Memorial Service will be  held on Thursday,  April 17, 2014 at the Harvey Funeral Chapel  - Plattsmouth with Rev. Jim Spanjers officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Staley, Eric Staley, Terry Book, Rick Niemi, Nathan Whitley, Bill Sarraillon, Jim Carr, Steven Carr and Paul Downey.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Nebraska with military honors by Post # 2543 V.F.W. and the United States Air Force Honor Guard.  Memorials may be directed to the Plattsmouth Rescue Squad.
