Edith Darlene (Clineburg) Herdlitchka passed away peacefully in New Braunfels, Texas on 23 April 2025 at the age 94. She was born on 31 March 1931 in Tecumseh, Nebraska to parents Arthur Willard Clineburg and Edith M. (Ellsworth) Clineburg. She was the youngest of their four daughters.
Darlene graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1948 and promptly went to work for the Superintendent of Tecumseh School District until 1951.
In 1951 Darlene began to work for Rubin Auto in Tecumseh and followed Rubin Auto to Plattsmouth, Nebraska in 1957 were it would become Rubin Ford. She stayed at Rubin Ford until it was sold in 1996. However, she continued to work for Rubin Enterprises until 2011, a 60-year span with one organization.
In Early in 1964, Darlene married Gregg Herdlitchka, Sr. of Humboldt, Nebraska and had two sons. Gregg, Jr and James (Jimmy) II.
In 1969 Gregg, Sr. and Darlene started in the restaurant business when they purchased the Murray Bar and Cafe and successfully ran the restaurant until 1977. In 1980 the Herdlitchkas went from the restaurant business to the bar business. From 1980 until 2012 Albo’s Bar in Plattsmouth was under their guidance.
Finally in 2012 Darlene retired to a much easier life after 64 years of dedicated work.
In 2023 Darlene moved down to New Braunfels, Texas to be closer to her oldest son Gregg, Jr and his wife Amy (McHargue) Herdlitchka.
Darlene was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Gregg, Sr and her youngest son James, her three Sisters. P. Pauline (Clineburg) Mahoney of Tecumseh, NE, Dora A. (Clineburg) McBride of Mauldin, SC, and Elizabeth A. (Clineburg) Hunter of Covington, GA.
She is survived by her oldest son, US Army Master Sergeant (Retired) Gregg Herdlitchka, Jr and his wife Amy of New Braunfels, Texas, Granddaughter Mickayla J. (Herdlitchka) Taft and her husband John of Lake in The Hills, IL. Grandsons include Connor G. and Justin M. Herdlitchka of Austin, Texas. And, Great Grandchildren include Greyson J. and Faith L. Taft of Lake In The Hills, IL. And, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
A Visitation to celebrate the life of Darlene Herdlitchka will be held at the Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home of Plattsmouth on May 29th 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Darlene will be interned at the Tecumseh Cemetery on Friday May 30th in a small family gathering.
The family requests that, instead of flowers, a donation be made to the Plattsmouth Volunteer Firefighters Association.
