Darlene "Tex" D Shafer

Darlene D. “Tex” Shafer age 83 of Bellevue, Nebraska was born on October 16, 1932 in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska to Herman and Minnie (Yoder) Pankoke. She passed away at her residence in Bellevue, Nebraska on Friday, September 2, 2016. Tex was united in marriage to John Shafer on June 20, 1952 in Goehner, Nebraska and together they raised four children, Diana, Pamela, Scott and Thomas. She was devoted to her family and home and enjoyed the opportunity to spend time watching her kids and grandchildren in various activities. She took great pride in taking care of her home, providing meals for her family and entertaining family and friends. Aside from family, she enjoyed bowling, and was a Nebraska Football fan and enjoyed going to all the Nebraska games. Tex was a devote Republican and enjoyed a good political conversation. She is survived by her husband, John Shafer of Bellevue, NE; children, Diana (Ed) Foral of Springfield, NE; Pamela (Pat) Mertz of Papillion, NE; Scott Shafer of Bellevue, NE; Thomas Shafer of Omaha, NE; 8 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; brothers, Clyde (MaryLou) Pankoke of North Carolina; Don (LaDonna) Pankoke of Lincoln, NE; Merle (Bonnie) Pankoke of Westminster, CO. Also survived by nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman & Minnie Pankoke; sister, Opal (Max) Clark, brother, Butch (Jeanette) Pankoke. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Southridge Church, 1250 N. Washington St. Papillion, NE 68046. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, September 6th with family greeting friends from 5-8 PM at Southridge Church.
