Darwin F. Gammell age 89 of Plattsmouth, NE was born on May 19, 1927 in Iowa to Frank and Ellen Marie (Malloy) Gammell. He passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Ambassador Care Center in Sidney, Iowa. Darwin attended school in Iowa and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. During his time in the military, he was sent to Japan during the Occupation and worked in the motor pool. After his discharge, he went to work for Omaha Public Power District as a lineman. He enjoyed working as a lineman and considered his employment more of a hobby. Outside of work, he enjoyed working on projects including remodeling his home, building a car and caring for his motorcycle. He traveled around the country attending motorcycle rally’s, some of which took him overseas. He had a private pilot license and enjoyed flying. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and won many awards for trap shooting. Darwin is survived by his sister, Jean Gammell of Plattsmouth, NE; Brother Kenny Gammell of Sidney, IA; Niece: Barbara Jean Flenker; Nephews: Larry P. Gammell & David E. Gammell. He is also survived by several Great Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents and nephew, Myron F.
