David L Freel

David Leonard Freel, age 72 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska  passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 25th, 1952, in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Richard L. and Hazel M. (Hill) Freel.

David graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1971 and continued his education at Southeast Community College in Milford, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Drafting in 1973. That same year, on October 20th, he married the love of his life, Jeanette L. Lepert, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Plattsmouth, NE. Together, they built a beautiful family and a life characterized by devotion and warmth.

Professionally, David worked as a Contracts Manager for Charleston Homes.  Alongside his professional career, David also enjoyed working on the farm.  A faithful member of the First Christian Church of Plattsmouth, David was a Golden Eagle of the Eagles FOE #365. He shared his passions generously, from camping, traveling, and woodworking, to playing board games and card games with loved ones. A classic car enthusiast, David cherished his 1936 Chevy Coupe and, in his younger years, rode dirt bikes and participated in local Hill Climbs. In later years, he took great joy in riding his Harley Davidson.

David is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Freel; his children, Mandy (Freel) Broeker and her husband Brad, Bryan Freel and his wife Jolene, and Sara (Freel) Bunker and her husband Aaron; and his cherished grandchildren, Haley and Jacob Broeker, Josey, Nataley and Ashley Freel, and Max Bunker. He also leaves behind his niece, Helen Donna Tuttle and her husband Jason, and his brother-in-law, Ernie Morrison. David was preceded in death by his father, Richard Freel, mother, Hazel Freel, and his sister, Patricia Morrison.

A visitation to honor David's memory will be held at the Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE, on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family for future designation.
