“Every life ends with a story about death. But perhaps, if we are lucky, our story about death is also a story about love.”

Della P. Sullivan, age 80 passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Plattsmouth on Friday, February 2, 2024.  She was born at her parents home in Plattsmouth on August 12, 1943 to Glenn and Jaunita (Wales) Diggs.

Throughout her life, Della was the epitome of love. Love for her husband, for her children, her friends, grandchildren, home, church, work - for everything she did and everyone she met, she carried love with her. Whether you were a family member, a peer, or yet another random friend brought to the house by one of the grandkids, she always made sure you got filled with some of that love before she said goodbye.

Della excelled at being a wife & mother, a sister and a friend. She thrived in tending to her home and cooking the kind of food you get excited about weeks in advance. For over 50 years, Della was a faithful and patient farm-wife to her husband, Tom. Despite being a mother of two and pursuing her own career in the courthouse, she was devoted to supporting the family farm and never wavered in that commitment. In her season of work, she flourished as she tactfully worked her way up to being the elected Clerk of the District Court. Della played many different roles in her days here, but one she took immense pride in was her role of being Grandma (and Great-Grandma) to all of her grandchildren. Whether they were 5 years old having tea parties or 30 years old chatting over a glass of wine, she never missed a chance to make her grandkids feel supported, encouraged and undoubtedly loved.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Sullivan, Plattsmouth, NE, children, Denise & Randy Nelson, Omaha, NE, Mark & Jenny Sullivan, Plattsmouth, NE, grandchildren, Ashley & Tucker Beglin, Amber, Adam & Allie Nelson, Emily & Kenny Harkness, Maddie (Sullivan) VanHelten, great grandchildren, Dallas, Randall, Archie, Avery, Sawyer, Sully, Amelia, Wayne, Raymond, Miles and Abel, brother, Lonnie & Priscilla Diggs, Arlington, TX, sister, Connie Diggs, Plattsmouth, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Jaunita Diggs

A Memorial Service will be held on  Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Plattsmouth, NE with Rev. Matt Coplen officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 -8:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church.

Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church/ Cass County Historical Society Building Fund or Under His Wings.
