Devon James Thomsen, 18, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was born on Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, to Beth Adkins and Lucas Thomsen.
A proud 2025 graduate of Plattsmouth High School, Devon was known for his infectious smile, boundless energy, and the joy he brought into every room. He had an extraordinary gift for making people laugh and feel welcome, often becoming the life of the party. Throughout his school years, he participated in middle school sports including football, wrestling, and swimming, and in high school he was happiest spending time with friends and creating memories.
Devon’s love for music was a defining part of who he was—whether attending concerts, strumming his guitar, or keeping rhythm on the drums. His curious mind and vivid imagination fueled his many interests, from video games and anime to dreaming big about the future. His vibrant personality and genuine kindness touched everyone he met, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and light.
Devon is survived by his parents, Beth Adkins and Lucas Thomsen; siblings, Kade Adkins, Journey Thomsen, Zoey Mitchell, and Violet Thomsen; grandparents, Jim and Lynnette Adkins, and Paul and Denise Thomsen; uncles and aunts, Bradley (Mandi) Adkins, Brett (Kinlea “Boo Boo") Adkins, and Sally (Jeffrey Kuerschner) Thomsen; along with numerous cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and his aunt, Elizabeth Thomsen.
A visitation will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth, NE, on Friday, August 15th, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. with family greeting friends. A funeral service to celebrate Devon's life will take place on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Adam DeMike Officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
