Doris Jean Tandy, 92, of Plattsmouth, born on Thursday, August 10th, 1933, in Wilsonville, Nebraska, to Glen and Julia Bethel, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025.
She spent many years as a waitress at Kent's Cafe, where she greeted patrons with warmth and a smile. Her strong work ethic also saw her at Plattsmouth Manor as a housekeeper, the Oak Hill Cemetery, where she made history as the first woman to serve as a groundskeeper and helped on her family farm. Beyond her professional life, Doris was known for her passion for cleaning and her unwavering willingness to help others, always offering support, kindness, and a lending hand to her community and beyond. She also loved to take nature pictures of animals, the sunset, and the sunrise.
Doris is survived by her children, Pat (Lanny) Fisher and Steve (Pat) Tandy, both residing in Plattsmouth, Nebraska; her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her brothers, Lawrence Bethel of Whitefield, Oklahoma, and Jerry Bethel of Plattsmouth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Julia Bethel, her husband, Thurman Tandy, and her sister, Ethel St. John.
Her legacy of love, resilience, and service shines brightly in the hearts of those who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered and cherished, as her spirit and influence persist through the lives she touched.
A private family graveside will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.
