Duane Ronald Heim age 81 of Plattsmouth passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.  He was born on July 17, 1941, in Omaha, Nebraska to Ford V. “Pete” and Estella (Parkening) Heim.

Duane grew up on the family farm in rural Plattsmouth.  He attended rural school at Cullum until finishing the 8th grade and then graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1958.  He was united in marriage to Roxanne McGill on February 17, 1962, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plattsmouth, together they made their home on a farm west of Plattsmouth and raised two children, Diane and Jim. Throughout the years, he farmed, raised, trained, and rode Professional Cutting Horses.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s Church and Plattsmouth Lodge #6 AF & AM.  Duane also belonged to the following Masonic affiliated bodies:  Home Chapter 189 Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the High Priest, Nebraska #3 York Rite, Red Cross of Constantine, Mt Zion Commandery #5 Knights Templar, Scottish Rite, Tangier Shrine.  Throughout the years, he also spent time helping in the role of a 4-H Leader and summer baseball and softball coach.

He enjoyed hunting, riding his cutting horses, playing golf with friends and was an avid Nebraska Women’s Volleyball fan.   His greatest love was the time spent with family, especially the many opportunities he had to watch his grandchildren in their various activities.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Heim of Plattsmouth, NE, children, Diane (Mike) Godwin of Louisville, MS, Jim (Teri) Heim of LaVista, NE, grandchildren, Austin Heim, Alela Heim, Lane (Jane) Godwin, Nicole Chubb and Lauren Chubb, sister-in-law, Joyce Heim of Plattsmouth, nephews, Dennis (Rhonda) Heim, Doug (Denise) Heim, Kevin (Jayne) Heim.

Preceding Duane in death are his parents and brother, Jerry Heim

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth, Nebraska with Pastor Harrold Rappold officiating.  burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth, NE.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM with family greeting friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.  A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Community Church in Plattsmouth, NE.
