Edith Margaret Tesarek, age 93, of Plattsmouth, NE, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 1, 1931, in Sedgwick, Colorado to William and Katherine (Michel) Williams.

Edith graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Arthur Tesarek on May 23, 1953 at the First Presbyterian Church.  She dedicated her career to clerical work, contributing her skills to several businesses and organizations, including Union Pacific, Western Electric, Hinky Dinky, Plattsmouth Manor, and Plattsmouth Community Schools.

A devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church, Edith served as a Deacon and was actively involved in the Women’s Fellowship, especially helping prepare chickens each year for the annual Chicken Pie Dinner. She also contributed her time and energy to the Band Parents, Nebraska Belle’s Extension Club, VFW Auxiliary, PTA, and Lady of Realm, reflecting her deep commitment to community service. Alongside her husband, Art, she cherished their time at the Corn Palace, warmly welcoming guests from near and far. Edith’s gift for connecting with people reflected her belief that she never met a stranger. In recognition of her dedication to the community, she was honored by the Plattsmouth Harvest Festival as Grand Marshal of the Parade in 2017 and, together with Art, received the Festival Founders Award in 2021.

Edith loved life and adventure. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, traveling, and the occasional visit to a casino to play the slots. She especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren—baking, visiting the zoo, and camping together. Her days were further enriched by her love of country music, polka dancing, and lunches with her dear friends, affectionately known as “The Posse.”

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Arthur Tesarek; her children: Karen Parsons and Nancy (John) Lowery, both of Plattsmouth; Douglas (Karen) Tesarek of Beaver Lake; and David (Joann) Tesarek of Murray. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jacob (Sian) Parsons, Rachel (Jeremy) Tucker, Kelly (Chaz) Macrander, Kyle Fitzpatrick, Andrea (Frank) Manning, Hunter (fiancée Michaela Love) Tesarek, Zachary Tesarek, Trevor Tesarek, and Grant Tesarek; and her great-grandchildren: Cash and Drake Macrander, and Arya and Maisie Parsons. In addition, Edith is survived by her brother, Leonard Williams; sisters-in-law, Shirley Williams and Dixie Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom will fondly remember her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Katherine Williams; her, son-in-law, Dale Parsons, her brothers, Harold, Albert, Robert, Raymond, Edward, Walter, and Ronald Williams; her sisters, Esther DeRosa and Ethlyn Spires; and her half-siblings, David, Jim, and Myrtle Williams.
