Edwin C. Foster was born April 3, 1952 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska to Bonnie Byers and an undisclosed father. He was immediately adopted by Charley and Letha (Webb) Foster of Omaha. He died at home September 26, 2023 following a two-year battle with small cell lung cancer.
On November 30, 1996, Ed joined in matrimony with his beloved wife, Donna (Meyers) Foster, in Bellevue. They shared a love of his children and grandchildren.
Ed's life was not an easy life until he found peace by professing Jesus as his Savior. In 1970, he served his country in the Navy and was honorably discharged after contracting meningitis. Ed held a number of jobs. Most of his career was as a machinist and as a landscape designer, but he reluctantly left the workforce after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. He had a deep passion for spreading the love of Jesus through ministry with a time spot on Cox TV, at the Douglas County Juvenile Center, at Prestige Care Center, and to everyone he met. Ed pursued his education, earning three associate degrees in agriculture management and was five credits short of a bachelor’s degree in family counseling. His love for gardening allowed him to share the fruits of his labors with others and with a dedicated customer base at the farmer’s market.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Donna Foster of Murray, his children, Dennis Foster of Omaha, William Foster of Tecumseh, and Crystal Foster of Omaha, as well as his grandchildren, Cyrus Boles of Omaha and Izaya Schmidt of Lincoln. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service to honor Ed's life will be held on October 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth, followed by a light luncheon. A graveside ceremony will take place at 1:30 PM at the Omaha National Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on October 16, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church missionary fund as a fitting way to honor Ed's life and his dedication to his faith.
