Elna M Hodge

Elna Marie Hodge, age 88 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025,   Born on Sunday, May 24, 1936, in Avoca Nebraska to Tinus & Matilda (Alexen) Bomberg , Elna was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her.

Elna graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1954 and soon after, on July 15, 1956, she united in marriage with Merlyn L. Hodge at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and community.  A devoted homemaker, Elna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and actively participated in the VFW and Eagles Clubs. In her youth, she was involved with Jobs Daughters.

Elna found joy in simple pleasures—sewing, baking, and solving puzzles. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, especially her son Mike  and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She played a pivotal role in raising her granddaughters, fostering their creativity and imagination, and ensuring that family remained the cornerstone of her life.

Elna is survived by her son, Mike Hodge; grandchildren Jenny (Chad) Wergin and their children, Colton and Van of Elkhorn, NE; and Melissa (Jeff) Bowman and their children, Boston, Kingston, and Reign of Slidell, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlyn Lee Hodge; her parents, Tinus and Matilda Bomberg; and her brother, Ivar Bomberg.

A visitation  will be held on  Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will  be held at Harvey Funeral Home on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 10:00 am with Pastor Matt Coplen Officiating.

Memorial donations in Elna's memory may be made to the Wounded Warriors organization.
