Elvira A. Lyckberg, 95, of Plattsmouth, passed away Saturday, May 17th, 2025, in Plattsmouth. She was born on Friday, October 11th, 1929, in Schwabach, Germany, to Sebastien and Maria (Drentwett) Rieder.
On July 21, 1956, Elvira married her beloved Jack, in a ceremony in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. To their union they added Penny and Renae. Her journey through life was adorned with rich experiences. During World War II, she dedicated herself as an apprentice seamstress, honing her craft and fostering a lifelong passion. This experience as a seamstress guided her career as the manager of a fabric store for many years. In addition, her caring nature led her to volunteer in a hospital, where she found great joy in assisting patients on their path to recovery.
Music was Elvira's true calling, and her skill as a pianist took her across Europe as a concert pianist. She was also a woman of adventure, embracing the thrill of skiing the Alps. In her later years, Elvira discovered a passion for quilting, crafting intricate patterns and pieces that won several blue ribbons. Her quilts, made with love and precision, were gifts treasured by all who received them.
Elvira is survived by her brother, Helmut Rieder of Germany; her daughters, Penny (Steve) Bashus and Renae (Gary) Kettle; her grandchildren, Kelley (AJ Austin) Bashus and Matthew (Sarah) Bashus; and her six great-grandchildren, Falon, Veda, Cameron, Rylee, Mackenzie, and Paisley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lyckberg, her father, Sebastien Rieder, and her mother, Maria Rieder.
A visitation celebrating Elvira's life will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth.
