Eugene Vernon “Gene” Mascher was born on May 20, 1930 in Chadron, Nebraska to Vernon Von and Elsie Edith (Wollesen) Mascher. He passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age 82 years, 10 months and 14 days.
Gene was raised in the Omaha Area and graduated from Tech High School. After High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served until retiring in 1971 at the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring he worked as a Civil Servant at Offutt Air Force Base in the flight line maintenance department until retiring in 1993.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Phillips on April 24, 1955 in Hattesburg, Mississippi and together they raised two children, Kelley and Diana.
He enjoyed nature and spending time outside gardening. He was a member of the Plattsmouth Eagles Club and the Bee Keepers Association.
Gene is survived by his Wife: Beverly Mascher of Plattsmouth, NE; 2 Children: Kelley E. Mascher of Seattle, WA; Diana (Michael) McCully of Plattsmouth, NE; 2 Grandchildren: Teresa (Kyle) Ross and Sara Christensen. Brother: Ivan (Peggy) Mascher of Bayard, NE; Sister: Grace (Bob) Felthousen of Plattsmouth, NE. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his Parents: Vernon & Elsie Mascher.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska with Pastor Donna Boren officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraksa
Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed the Parkinson’s Association.
