Eva Jane Meisinger age 97 of Louisville, NE, formerly of Murray, NE was born April 19, 1920 in Springfield, NE to John H Bundy, Sr Mossie E.N. (Mise) Bundy. She was one of ten children to grow up in the Springfield area. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1937 & then attended Peru State Teachers College. Before marriage, Jane worked as a teacher, first in Stringtown School in Sarpy Co in a one room school without electricity or water, then @ Frazier School which was located near what is now Offutt Air Base, then at Sargent, NE. She ended her teaching at Avenue B school in Council Bluffs, IA. At that time women were not allowed to teach after they were married. On December 25, 1944 she was united in marriage to Herbert P. Meisinger at the Methodist Church in Springfield,NE. Together they spent many years farming in Cass County before retiring to a home they built in Murray, NE. Jane enjoyed having a huge vegetable & flower garden. Her kitchen was filled with the smells of baking cinnamon rolls (her specialty), apple pie, cherry pastry & her many, many cookies at Christmas time. She even got Herb’s help frosting the hundreds of cookies. They delivered plates of cookies to many friends. She always took flowers, esp. gladiolas, to put on the altar at church & then after church she & Herb delivered the flowers to shut-ins for them to enjoy. Quilting was another hobby & she became involved in the Quilts for Soldiers which was started by Mrs. Chuck (Lilibet) Hagel. She would send the quilts to Mr. & Mrs. Hagel & they would see that the quilts were distributed to the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital. She became good friends with the Hagel’s mostly through calls. She was invited to go to Washington D.C. to various events & was so disappointed that she wasn’t able to travel that far. September 2016, Rob took her to a reception held to honor the Hagel’s in Omaha. She said that was one of the proudest moments of her life (other than marrying Herb). While she was at the Care Center in Louisville she crocheted many afghans for family & friends. Many of the staff would bring her yarn & she never wanted paid for her work. She said “It gives me something to do." Jane is survived by her children, Sandy(Terry) Dennis of Bloomfield, NE, Phil(Lori) Meisinger of Omaha, NE, Randy(Lou) Meisinger of Lincoln & Rob Meisinger of Weeping Water, NE.
