Fay J. "Jr." Smalley

Fay J. “Jr.” Smalley was born on January 19, 1932 to Oscar Fay and Hermie Capatoal (Retelsdorf) Smalley in Plattsmouth, NE. He passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at his home in Plattsmouth surrounded by family at the age of 81 years, 6 months, and 12 days. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Plattsmouth, children – Debby (Tim) Easterling – Plattsmouth, Jim (Paula) Smalley – Hershey, NE, Terry (Shelly)-Mooresville, IN; Grandchildren – Maquel Schippert, Chaz Macrander, Alana Rhodes, Megan Paul, Logan Smalley; 5 Great Grandchildren; Brother Russell (Norene) Smalley – Council Bluffs, IA He was preceded in death by his Parents Oscar & Hermie Smalley; Sister – Glendora Burns and Brothers Theodore and Edwin Smalley. Fay grew up in Plattsmouth and attended school here. He enlisted in the Army in Sept 1952 and served until August 1954 when he transferred to Army Reserve to complete his service. He went to work for the Union Pacific railroad as a carman and retired from there. Fay had many interests which included woodworking, WWII airplanes, his yard, flowers, and making and fixing things. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth and enjoyed helping with the many activities of the church and school. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church.
