Franklin Delano "Frank" Eyster, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on June 30, 1933, in Bellevue, Nebraska to Milton E. and Mabel R. (Bailey) Eyster.

Frank, a proud graduate of Bellevue High School, class of 1951.  He was united in marriage to Nora Lou Frazer on March 15, 1952 at the Methodist Church in Plattsmouth and shared 72 years of life together.   He proudly served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955.  For 39 years, Frank devoted himself to his career with the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) which took him from utility man to lineman and ultimately manager of the Bellevue Service Center before his retirement.  A dedicated member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers).

Frank's civic contributions were as vast as they were impactful. He was a lifetime member of the Lepert-Wolever VFW Post #2543. His commitment extended to the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth, where he served on the Trustee Board for many years. Always active in his community, Frank was a founding member of the Plattsmouth Rescue Squad, served 20 years with the Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department, and held positions with the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Board, Plattsmouth Parks Board, and Plattsmouth Band Parents. He also dedicated time to the Boy Scouts of America.  Together he and Nora volunteered extensively with the SOWERS organization dedicating countless hours to building churches and schools and engaging in mission work.

Renowned for his unique craftsmanship, Frank enjoyed woodworking and frequently shared his passion by creating crosses as heartfelt gifts for friends. His hobbies also included camping, trap shooting, and collecting coins, particularly crafting rings from silver coins.  Family was an important part of Frank's life and he enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren, enjoying cherished camping adventures.

In honor of his service and dedication to the state, Frank was named an Admiral in the Navy of the great State of Nebraska by Governor Mike Johanns.

Frank is survived by his daughters, Linda (Paul) Cisco of Plattsmouth, NE, and Teresa (David) Crowl of Lincoln, NE; beloved grandchildren, Jeremy (Lindsay) Cisco, Jennifer (Jerry West) Cisco, Skyler (Katie) Crowl, Bailey (Nathan Davidson) Crowl, Joshua (Jamie) Eyster, and Daniel Eyster; and cherished great-grandchildren, Fern, Alex, Emma, Elise, Ezra, Levi, and Grayson. His sister-in-law, Sara Eyster of Malcolm, NE, his niece Chris Topliff, and great-niece Kirstin (Ty) Cope and their children, Rowan and Callan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Lou Eyster, his parents, Milton E. Eyster and Mabel R. Eyster, an infant son, his son Richard Eyster, brothers Jerry Eyster and Bill Eyster, and his half-sister LaVina Allen. He also joins his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Loren & Minnie Etta Topliff, in peaceful rest.

A visitation will be held at Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE, on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. with family greeting friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  The funeral service will take place at First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth, NE, on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 11:00 am with Rev. Lee Wigert officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or Plattsmouth Senior Center for Meals on Wheels.
