George "Bud"
Good
May 14, 1936 — May 21, 2026
George Rolland Good May 14, 1936 -May 21, 2026 George ‘Bud’ Good passed away in his home, surrounded by loved ones, the morning of May 21, 2026. Born in St. Bernice, Indiana on May 14, 1936, Bud was the second son for George and Edith (Lowry) Good.
Bud left St Bernice high school as a teen to join the US Army. During his time in the military, he became pen pals with Shirley Smith of Fontanet, Indiana at the request of his sister, Judy. Their long distance relationship led them to marriage on June 28, 1958. Life brought them to Plattsmouth where they raised their three children, Rhonda, Lori and Don. During his lifetime, Bud was a hardworking member of the Local Laborers Union. He served the community as a Cub Scout leader, PTA President, VFW Color Guard, and was a top supporter of Shirley in her role as a Campfire Girls leader and Band Parent.
After retiring, Bud could be seen on the track at Rylander Park walking laps to keep him in shape for the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk that he participated in for over 20 years. He was very proud of his seven grandchildren and loved to brag about them. Bud’s latest joy was time spent with his six great-grandchildren. He was looking forward to meeting the newest great-granddaughter, who was born the day after Bud left this earth. Bud was a soft spoken, faithful, kind, honorable man who loved his family deeply and cherished time spent with them. True to his quiet and private nature, Bud asked for no funeral service and instead donated his body to science, wanting to better the world even after he left it.
The family had a day of celebration and love June 10, 2026 at Beaver Lake Clubhouse.
George is survived by his wife Shirley, daughters Rhonda and Lori (Lanny); son Don (Kim); grandchildren Jason (Cyndi) Rexroat, Cody Rexroat, Amanda Baker (Pat Ulrich), Andrea (John) Randall, Brittni Good, Dustyn (Katie)Good, Levi Good; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Nancy Walton and Judy Tucker, brothers Larry (Kyong) Good and Elijah Good, brother-in-law Bill (Karen) Smith, sisters-in-law Wanda Dickerson, Connie (Fred) Bernhardt and Terrie Koller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joe and Jack. Memorials can be directed to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or a charity of choice as Bud was a believer in bettering our world for future generations through selfless generosity.
