Gerald J. “Jerry” Brown was born on February 22, 1939 in Corning, Iowa to Marion W. and Rosanna (Mitchell) Brown. He passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 surrounded by his family at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 29 days.
Jerry was raised in the Corning, Iowa are and entered into the United States Army in 1956 serving until 1959. He was united in marriage to Darlene Wilkerson on January 31st and together they raised four children, Michael, Eric, Geron and Angi. Jerry worked for many years at a Steamfitter and member of Local 464 Steamfitters Union in Omaha, Nebraska.
He was a member of Murray Christian Church where he served on the Church Council and as a Deacon. His memberships also included Plattsmouth Lodge #6 A.F. & A.M., Past Patron of O.E.S. #189 both of Plattsmouth. In his free time, he enjoyed working on his John Deere Tractor, wood carving, traveling in his R.V. and figuring!
He is survived by Wife: Darlene Brown of Murray, NE; Children: Angi (Scott) Miller of Bellevue, NE; Geron (Jennifer) Brown of Aurora, CO; Eric (Heather) Brown of Eagle, NE; Michael Brown of Las Vegas, NV; Grandchildren: Becky Brown, Nolan & Caden Brown, Josh, Caleb & Hanah Brown, Kimi, Ryan & Kristen Miller. Brother: Clifford (Illah) Brown of Corning, IA; Sisters: Lois (Gerald) Scott of Clearfield, IA, Berneita Dunham of Bella Vista, Ark, Joann Morris of Omaha, NE, Judy (Dennis) Grantham of Denver, CO, Rosanna Walker of Bemidji, MN. Sister-in-law: Judy Brown of McKinney, TX. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his, parents and brother, Bernard Brown.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 24, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Murray Christian Church in Murray, Nebraska with Rev. Larry Hammons officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Leukemia Society or Murray Christian Church Building Fund
