Gerald "Jerry" L Tilson

Gerald "Jerry" Lee Tilson, age 74 of Plattsmouth, passed away on May 7, 2024, at Prestige Care in Plattsmouth, NE, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on March 7, 1950, in Nebraska City, NE, to Douglas and Margaret Tilson.

Jerry proudly served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged.  He was united in marriage to Debra Clark in 1972 and together they raised three boys, JJ, Nate, and Heath.  Upon returning to Plattsmouth,  he worked for Allied and later Arcadian Chemical Company in LaPlatte for 30 years.  His love of racing and cars allowed him a successful career as owner and operator of Tilson Automotive.

From a young age, Jerry began his racing career, first on motorcycles doing hill climbs around the area.  He later found a love for drag racing and traveled extensively on the drag racing circuit.   His love for the sport extended to working on race cars and helping kids and grandkids pursue their racing dreams. Jerry was a member of the Eagles FOE 365, VFW, NHRA, and Cavaliers Motorcycle Club.

Jerry is survived by his sons JJ (Kim) Tilson, Nate (Jamie) Tilson, Heath Tilson, grandchildren Katie (Tyler) Schilling, MaKayla, Madisyn, and Mackenzie Tilson, Christian Tilson,  great-grandchildren Emeree and Karsen Garber, brother Jim (Debbie) Tilson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Margaret, and brothers Kevin and Don Tilson.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth, officiated by Rev. Matt Coplen. Interment will follow at Lewiston Cemetery.

Visitation will take place on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 1-8 PM at the funeral home, with the family present from 6-8 PM.
