Ginny Theuer Parker,

Ginny passed away peacefully at the age of 82 in her Bellevue, Nebraska home on October 10, 2022 following a long illness.  Born to Clara (Zachman) and George Theuer, June 16, 1940 in Manhatten, New York City while father attended Union Theological Seminary there.   Following that they lived at several places:  Oswego, Illinois, Findley and Edgecliff (Cleveland), Ohio, and Oakland, California.  Went to kindergarten and first grade in Edgecliff.

In the fall of 1947 Ginny with her family arrived in Liling, Hunan Province, China. Lived with parents and younger sister, Marilyn.  In Dec 1948 left China for the U.S. due to communist revolution.

Family went to Japan in the fall of 1949.  Lived at Otsu near Lake Biwa, Kyoto and then Osaka.  Ginny attended Canadian Academy International School from 1952 until graduating from high school there in 1957.  Took flight training and soloed from Yao Airport.  Stayed in Japan studying piano until entering North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

Began freshman year at North Central College in fall of 1958 as pre-nursing student.  There she and John met, and they fell in love.  Following her second year at North Central, Ginny began nurses training at Presbyterian St. Luke Hospital in Chicago.

Ginny and John married on December 23, 1961 at the Chicago Methodist Temple in downtown Chicago.  In June of 1962 Ginny left nurses’ training and joined John in Pensacola, Florida, where he was undergoing Navy flight training.

Together they moved to New Iberia, Louisiana where John went through Navy advanced flight training.  In early 1963 they moved to Imperial Beach, California.  Here daughter Paige was born at the Lemon Grove Hospital in Lemon Grove CA.  In 1965 son David was born at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego.  And then the family treks began.  From California to Norfolk, VA, to Pensacola, FL, to Whidbey Island, WA, to Virginia Beach, VA, then to Naples, Italy, and finally to Plattsmouth, Nebraska.  Ginny always providing stability, shepherding the kids around from place to place, building a home at each spot and keeping family life going through John’s absences.

She is best described as loving, loyal, faithful, supportive, patient, dependable, brave, and fun to be with.

Enjoyed family, travel, corresponding, reading, sewing.  Devoted to her children and a pioneer for her faith.  Ardent student of the Bible.

Ginny is survived by John, her husband of over 60 years, daughter Paige Parker Campbell (Richard), son David Parker (Rachel), granddaughter Ashleigh Jernigan, grandsons Ian and Hayden Parker, great-granddaughter Kassydee Wilson and great-grandson Leo Fernandez.  And by her sister, Marilyn Diehl (Arnold).  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, October 15, 2022 at, at 2:00 pm at the Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE.

Interment will be later in a family service at the Fairview Cemetery, Annawan, Illinois.
