Howard Emerson Wiles, Jr., 96 of Plattsmouth, died June 15, 2026 at Nye Summit in Louisville, Nebraska. Emerson was born on March 8, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska to Howard E. & Katherine M. (Platzer) Wiles. 

He attended and graduated from Plattsmouth High School, and attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Emerson served in the U.S. Army stationed at San Luis Obispo, California. He married Norma Peterson Macrander on April 11, 1970 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Emerson was a farmer and cattle feeder his entire adult life. In his later years he discovered the joy of fishing, spending many hours on the water in pursuit of “the big one”. His fishing trips took him to Canada, Florida, Louisiana, South Dakota and the Missouri River.

Emerson is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Norma L. Wiles. Survived by daughter Roxanne Holler-Wiles (Sundae), stepdaughter Cindy Wohlfarth (Alan), stepsons Marty Macrander (Diane), Michael Macrander (Sharon); grandchildren Isaac Wiles (Fiancée Kaila), Elaine Wiles, Alison Burns (Matt), Maquel Schippert (Andrew), Chaz Macrander (Kelly), Ashley Macrander (Walter), Angela Hogue (Bobby), Tim Macrander (Amy); great grandchildren Liliana Burns, Logan Burns, Axel Schippert, Greta Schippert, Cash Macrander, Drake Macrander, Kora Smith, Dawson Hogue, Isabella Dickinson (Kyle), Emily Macrander, and Luke Macrander.

Join Family & Friends at an open house remembering Emerson on Saturday June 20th, 2026, from 3pm to 6pm at the Funeral Home.

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorials be made to the Plattsmouth Community Foundation Fund or the Cass County Historical Society.
