James Richard Dietl

James R. Dietl was born Nov. 13, 1934 to Joseph and Bernadine (Carper) Dietl on a farm near Weeping Water, NE. He passed Aug. 25, 2015 at Hunnington Park Care Center in Papillion, He grew up in rural Cass County attending school and graduating from Nehawka High School. On November 15, 1952 he was married to Elizabeth Radtke at St. Patrick’s Church in Manley, NE. To this union 8 children were born Sandra ,Timothy, Kenneth, Cathy, Teresa, Linda, Daniel and Chris. Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Plattsmouth children: Sandra Peter – Plattsmouth, NE, Timothy (Nancy) Dietl – Council Bluffs, IA, Kenneth (Jane) Dietl – Council Bluffs, IA, Cathy (Darrell) Jourdan – Bellevue, NE, Teresa (William) Stanberry – Nebraska City, NE, Linda (Steve) Norris – Omaha, NE, Daniel (Nora Brand) Dietl - Nehawka, NE, Chris (Tim) Faircloth – Beaver Lake, NE.; 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Brothers/Sisters: Robert (Anita) Dietl – Anaheim, CA, Pat (James) Sampson – Plattsmouth, Donald (Kathy) Dietl – Hemet, CA., Ronald (Coleen) Dietl – Tokeland, WA and June Adsit - Plattsmouth, NE., also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe & Bernadine Dietl, 2 grandsons Derek J. Stanberry and Sonday Dietl, father and mother-in-law Harold & Laura Radtke, a sister Betty Sheard and son-in-law Robert Peter. Jim was a dedicated employee for 40 years with Burlington Railroad. He had also worked for Stauffer Chemical. In his spare time he was involved with his community serving as a Boy Scout Leader, baseball coach, member of Manley town council and helped build the backstop at the Manley ball field. Being outdoors gave him much pleasure, he enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, gardening, slow pitch softball. During cold weather he could be found bowling or playing cards, either pinochle or pitch. He loved being around his family and enjoyed family vacations. He was a member of Eagles FOE 365 and VFW Post 2543. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 from 1 until 7 PM with the family present from 5 – 7 at the Harvey Funeral Home Plattsmouth, NE. There will be a Rosary at 7 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Manley, NE.
