James Patrick Currans Jr. was born on October 26, 1955, to Maizelle (Witte) Currans and James Patrick Currans Sr. in Corpus Christi, TX. He married Julie Ann (Barber) Currans on December 18, 1986 in Corpus Christi, TX. He passed away on April 28, 2023, in Beaver Lake, NE.

He is survived by his wife of thirty six Julie Ann (Barber) Currans, his four children: Cody Currans, Casey (Currans) Azzarello, Tyler Currans and Anthony Kienast, his siblings Christine (Currans) Grimes and brother in law Jerry Grimes of Streetman, TX, his brother Michael Jay Currans of Bay City, TX, and his eight young grandchildren Falon, Veda, Cameron, Oliver, James, Adelina, Tukson, and Dawson along with his five nieces

He is proceeded in death by his parents Maizelle (Witte) Currans-Wiegmann, Claude L. Wiegmann and James Patrick Currans Sr., along with numerous aunts and uncles.

James or Jimbo as those close to him would call him, began his 39 year railroad career in Corpus Christi, TX working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad until it’s merger with Union Pacific Railroad. He then worked for Union Pacific Railroad briefly in St. Louis, MO and then spent the remainder of his career in Omaha, NE.

Jimbo was a lover of all music, spending time with family, dancing and watching football with his sons - particularly the Dallas Cowboys. He would light up a room with his one of a kind laugh, and his many Jimbo-isms that were so uniquely him. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose presence will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Njus officiating.

A reception will follow the service at Lakeridge Golf Course, 1536 Country Club Circle, Plattsmouth, NE
