James S. Miner, Jr.

James “Jim” Stephen Miner, Jr. was born July 26, 1939 in Omaha, NE to James S. Miner, Sr. and Esther (Dixon) Miner. He passed away December 2, 2012 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Jim graduated from high school and attended technical school to become a mechanic. He spent his working life repairing John Deere tractors and heavy equipment. On February 19, 1957 he married Betty Lou Howell in Marysville, KS. To this union were born Christina, Joyce, Jamee and James. Jim loved fishing, watching TV, gardening, talking, time spent with the grandchildren and attending their activities. He filled his spare time with working at tractor pulls. He is survived by children Christina (Lewis ) Fisher of Knoxville, IA; Jamee (Bruce) Beccard of Gravette, AR, James (Denise) Miner of Wahoo, NE and son-in-law Jerome Speck of Murray, NE.; grandchildren and great grandchildren; Sisters: Char Miner, Alice Miner and Jane Young; brother, Gary Miner. Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Betty L. Miner, daughter, Joyce Speck, granddaughter, Stephanie Speck, grandson, Joseph Miner; sisters, Evelyn Cox, Judy Voistman, and brother Joseph Miner. Funeral services for Jim will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints – Plattsmouth, NE with Bishop Troy Bennett officiating. Interment will be at Springfield Cemetery – Springfield, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P. M. with the family present at the funeral home.
