LIVESTREAM (Click Here)

Janet Elinor Snell, age 93, of Plattsmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 28, 2025, in Bellevue, Nebraska. She was born the second of eight children to William and Dorothy (Collins) Molck in Corning, Iowa, on September 16, 1932.

Janet graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and was united in marriage to Neal E. Snell on March 9, 1951 at the Epworth Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She came to rural Plattsmouth as a young bride and Plattsmouth remained her home for 74 years. She and her husband, Neal, farmed near Mynard until 1960, when they moved into Plattsmouth.

In 1974, Janet and Neal purchased the local bowling alley, the Bowlero, renamed it Li-Mi-Rick Lanes, and operated it for 27 years with the help of their family. Janet administered a youth bowling program for 33 years (1974–2003), through which more than 5,000 young people participated. For 24 years, she and Neal volunteered their time and traveled throughout 14 states to assist with the Regional Junior/Collegiate Bowling Tournament. She served as a state director for seven years with the Nebraska Young American Bowling Alliance. Her dedication was recognized through numerous honors, including induction into the Greater Omaha Junior Bowling Association Coaches Hall of Fame in 1987, the Nebraska Young American Bowling Alliance Hall of Fame in 1996, and the Metro USBC Hall of Fame for meritorious service in 2010. In 1994, she received the Friend of Youth Award from the Plattsmouth Optimist Club. They sold the business in 2000 and retired to a new home in rural Cass County.

Throughout her life, Janet remained active in agriculture and community service. She served on the County Extension Board and was a member of the Merry Workers Extension Club and Plattsmouth Optimist Club contributing to the Plattsmouth Harvest Festival Farmers Parade floats. In 2002, she was selected as a Lady of the Realm and assisted with the princess tea for several years. Her greatest passion, however, was working with youth. Janet served as a 4-H leader for nine years and devoted many years to her church as Director of Children’s Work, Vacation Bible School Director, Youth Fellowship leader, and Sunday School teacher. She was Lay Leader at the Mynard United Methodist Church for more than ten years and a trustee for six years at the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth. For many years, she served as the storekeeper for the Awana Program at Living Water Church.

Janet lived a life grounded in faith, family, and a sense of adventure. She and Neal shared a deep love for travel, visiting all 50 states together—either exploring the country in their motorhome or joining organized tours. Some of their most treasured memories were family trips to her beloved Table Rock Lake, where time spent together was always the highlight. Janet found great joy in simple, everyday pleasures as well: tending her garden, feeding and watching her birds, working puzzles, and creating beautiful needlework. Above all, she cherished her family, delighting in every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and nurturing traditions together. Her strong and steady faith guided her throughout her life, shaping her kindness, generosity, and lifelong dedication to serving others within her church and community.

Janet’s most cherished roles in life were those of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (“MiMi”), and homemaker. She is survived by her two children, Linda & Bill Worlein and Mick & Ruth Snell; four grandchildren, Brian & Tina Harvey, Nikki Rodino, Apryl & Curtis Beck, and Michael & Jasmine Snell; and eight great-grandchildren, Kayla & Chandler Cole, Alicia (Chance Taylor) Oswalt, Courtney Harvey, Julia Sweeney, Caiden Rodino, and Jimmy, Alex & Tommie Beck; siblings, Larry & Annie Molck, Paul & Barb Molck, Wayne & Shar Molck, Vicki & Fred Christensen, and Steve & Barb Molck. She is also survived by her “Oklahoma daughter,” Annita Fulton, and her son, Devon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Neal Snell; her sister, Betty Carver; and her brother, William Molck.
