Janice Marie Case, age 86 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2026, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on June 30, 1940, in Grafton, North Dakota, the daughter of Otto and Ella Hajek and grew up in Oaks, North Dakota, later moving to Hamburg at the age of eight.

Janice's early years were filled with joy, particularly during the cherished times spent with her mother, Ella. They created unforgettable memories, including a memorable train journey to California, which Janice relished as her opportunity to enjoy one-on-one attention as an only child. Her school years saw her excel in academics and athletics, where she proudly lettered in basketball and participated in drama during her tenure at Hamburg High School, graduating in 1958.

In her youth, Janice began working at the Hamburg Inn Restaurant, where her future husband, Kenneth Case, was also connected through family. The two fell in love in 1958, a romance she fondly immortalized with the song "I Am Available" on the juke box at the restaurant. They were united in marriage on April 18, 1959, at St. Mary's Church in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Their honeymoon in Kansas City was filled with joy, staying at the memorable You Smile Motel.

Together, Janice and Kenneth welcomed four wonderful children: Michelle, Kenneth Jr. , Melissa, and Charity. In 1967, the family moved to Plattsmouth, where Janice became an integral part of the community. She dedicated 30 years to serving at The Nebraska Masonic Home, where her commitment to care extended to many family members who worked alongside her. Janice and Kenneth became proud members of the Church of the Holy Spirit around the same time, fostering a deep sense of belonging that enriched their life together.

Janice is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Case, and their children: Michelle Dixson (Bellevue), Kenneth Jr. (Skipper) Case and his wife Jacki (Papillion), and Melissa Scaturro and her husband Jeff (Bellevue). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Melissa (Missi) Hansen, Joshua Dixson, Elizabeth (Beth) Buhr, Kenneth (Trey) Case, David Case, Michael Scaturro, Ryan Dixson, Andrea Scaturro, and Emma Rarig, as well as great-grandchildren Xander, Amelia, Kaitlin, Keegan, Ella, Chelsea, Noah, Kayleigh, Blake, Lyla, Mila, Alden, Christian, Owen, Adeline, Henry, Josephine, Nolan, and Emmit.

Janice was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ella Hajek; her father, Otto Hajek; her stepfather, Yates Todalen; and her cherished daughter, Charity Masters.
