Jean Elizabeth Hoppe, age 86, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska on March 26, 2024. She was born on October 31, 1937, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to Marion and Mabel (Arnold) Rouse.

Jean grew up in Plattsmouth, where she also made her home and raised her family. She worked in various food service roles throughout the years. On April 28, 1979, she was united in marriage to Lynn C. Hoppe in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

She spent countless hours crocheting blankets and dolls for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additionally, she found joy in working on ceramics and making Christmas cookies to share with friends and family.

Jean is survived by her husband, Lynn Hoppe of Plattsmouth, NE; sister, Janet Newburn of Douglas, GA; children, Connie (Ed) Sheppard of Malvern, IA, Randy (Kathy) Newburn of Plattsmouth, NE, Rhonda Therlin of Claxton, GA, James Newburn (Charlotte Cobb) of Plattsmouth, NE, and Karen (Arrin) Wheatley of Plattsmouth, NE. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Kevin Eugene Newburn; great grandson, Christopher Daniel Moles, and siblings, Virgil (Mary) Rouse, Alfred (Dorothy) Rouse, Rose (Harold) Hamilton, Wilda (Merlin) Jenkins, and Clarice (Dayle, Sr.) Frazier.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth, NE, with Rev. Michael McGregor officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the church prior to the funeral service. The service will be livestreamed on the Funeral Home Facebook Page.

Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
