John D Hoschar

April 13, 1924 — January 24, 2015

John D. Hoschar, age 90 of Plattsmouth, NE passed peacefully in his sleep January 24, 2015 into the arms of Jesus with family by his side. He was one of 9 children born to Wilford and Pearl (Addelman) Hoschar on April 13, 1924 in Gretna, Nebraska John was raised in Plattsmouth and graduated from Plattsmouth High School. After High School, he served in the United States Army Air Corp during both World War II and Korean War. He graduated from the Cadet Academy in February 1944 and was assigned to the 67th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 18th Fighter Bomber Group, F51 planes, where he flew many missions around the world. He flew B17's during World War II and twin engine bombers during the Korean War.  He also flew the B17 during the first stages of radar testing in storms. On September 8, 1944, he was united in marriage to Helen Arnold in Macon, Georgia. After his discharge from the military, they made their home in Plattsmouth where they raised their 9 children. John worked in several professions before retirement including serving as a Engineer’s Aid for the Nebraska Department of Roads and Ministering to churches in Louisville, Central City and also the Plattsmouth Community Church. John was known and loved for his years of land developing in the community until he retired. He is survived by his children, Joyce (Bill) Summers, Johnny (Betty) Hoschar, Donald (Beverly) Hoschar, Daniel Hoschar, Sarah Hoschar, Nancy Halsted, Carlena Hoschar, Stephen Hoschar; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Joe Hoschar and Bill (Alice) Hoschar sisters, Marie Sand and Marjorie Haley, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Pearl Hoschar, his loving wife, Helen (Arnold)  Hoschar, son, Samuel W. Hoschar, brothers, Richard, Melvin Hoschar, sisters, Ida Mae Bickett and Alice Rawson. A Graveside Service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. in Plattsmouth, Nebraska with Pastor Jon Haizlip officiating. Pallbeares will include, Robert Long, Richard Hoschar, Mark Brownlee, Ryan Brownlee, Michael Hoschar and Jacob Hoschar. No visitation or viewing at the request of the family. Memorials may be directed to Oak Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home, Plattsmouth, NE 402-296-4445.
