Joseph W Burgert, Sr.

Joseph W. Burgert, Sr. age 69 of Bellevue, NE was born July 29, 1947 in Philadelphia. PA to Joseph E. and Thelma (King) Burgert He passed away on Jan. 22, 2017 at the Papillion Manor in Papillion, NE.  After high school he joined the US Air Force and spent much of his adult life serving our country.  He was united in marriage to Karen Sue Snogren on November 15, 1969 and together they raised two children, Joseph and Kristopher.  After 20 years of service, he retired as a MSgt from the Air Force.  Following his retirement, he went to work as a Regional Manager for McDonald’s primarily working in the restaurant on Galvin Road in Bellevue.  Joe enjoyed photography and used his talents on the computer to do video work and put family pictures on DVD’s .  He could be seen at many of his grandchildrens events, enjoying a cold Coca Cola, playing powerball and going to the casino. Joe is survived by his Children:  Joseph (Kristi) Burgert – Plattsmouth, NE, Kristopher  Burgert – Phoenix, AZ; Grandchildren:   Kylie and Jillian Burgert – Plattsmouth; Sister:  Florence (Joe) Haertter – Lancaster, PA.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his Parents:  Joseph & Thelma Burgert;  Wife:  Karen Burgert; Grandson:  Jarett Burgert;   Sister:  Jeraldine Crompton. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth, NE with Father Loras Grell officiating.  Military Honors by the US Air Force.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.  A Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
