Kailey Jean Lawson, cherished daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, on July 31, 2024, at the tender age of 10. Born on December 26, 2013, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, to Dwight and Heather Lawson.

Known as a true superhero, Kailey’s life, though brief, was filled with extraordinary love and joy. Her stubborn yet sunny disposition made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She adored her older sister and was beloved by all who had the privilege to meet her.

She loved playing with Legos, cheering on her favorite hockey teams—the Mavericks and Lancers—creating art, and cooking and baking with her grandma. A rock music fan and avid WWE wrestling enthusiast, she especially adored Cody Rhodes. Kailey’s incredible spirit was recognized by the UNO Dance Marathon as a Miracle Kid.

Kailey’s family and friends will forever remember her as a ray of sunshine, a little girl whose love and light will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Kailey is survived by her loving parents, Dwight & Heather Lawson and her adored older sister, Claire Lawson. She leaves behind her devoted grandparents, Dave and Patty Lawson of Plattsmouth, NE, and great-grandparents, Dee Bigge and Glen Schwanz of Omaha, NE. Kailey was also cherished by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends who will deeply miss her vibrant presence.

Preceding Kailey in death were her grandfather, Dave Novotny, grandmothers Cheri Rief and Marsha Baker, uncle Davis Lawson, and other great-grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at One Life Church, 211 S 23rd St, Plattsmouth, NE.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Harvey Funeral Home.
