Kathryn E Stapp

Kathryn Elaine (Grosshans) Stapp age 98 of Plattsmouth, was born on October 12, 1920 in Sutton, Nebraska to Karl William and Myrtle Eloise (Cundall) Grosshans.  She passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at The Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.

Kathryn was raised on a farm near Plattsmouth and graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1938.  She was united in marriage to John Vincent Stapp on March 15, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri.  Together they raised two children, John Michael and Kathryn Jayne.

She worked in several positions throughout the years including Jacobs Café, Cass County Treasurers office, Corp of Engineers, Star Commission Company and Cornbelt Commission.  After John’s passing, she was united in marriage to Michael F. Guilfoyle on December 12, 1970 and later to George Stanley on February 14, 1987.

Kathryn enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth and Sat-ra Temple No 59 Daughters of the Nile in Omaha, Nebraska.   In 2015, she made her home at The Nebraska Masonic Home.

She is survived by her children, John “Mike” (Mary) Stapp of Plattsmouth, NE, Kathryn “Kathy” (Merle) Renner of Plattsmouth, NE, 5 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl & Myrtle Grosshans, husbands, John Stapp, Michael Guilfoyle and George Stanley, brothers and sisters, Thomas Grosshans, Charles Grosshans, Alice Jayne McShane and Marcella Grosshans.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Nebraska with Rev. Michael McGregor Officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the family for distribution to Kathryn’s favorite charities.
