Kenneth L. Irland

Kenneth L. Irland was born on January 7, 1929 in Otoe, Nebraska to Ralph R. and Alice E. (Tibbits) Irland. He passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Nebraska at the age of 84 years. He was raised in Otoe, Nebraska and graduated from Otoe Schools in 1945. He was united in marriage to Lucille E. Aspedon on July 4, 1949 in the First Christian Church in Nebraska City, Nebraska and together they raised four children, Bill, Kenneth, Mark and Shannon. He worked from 1955-1984 at IBM where he was a customer engineer, eventually moving into management. Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1948 – 1951 during the Korean War. He is a Lifetime member of the Plattsmouth Lepert-Wolever V.F.W. Post #2543 and served on the Beaver Lake Board of Directors for three years. He enjoyed hunting and working on his home and cars. He is survived by his : Wife: Lucille Irland of Plattsmouth, NE 4 Children: Bill & Julie Irland of Mesa, AZ; Kenneth Irland of Springfield, IL; Mark & Cheryl Irland of Grinnell, IA; Shannon & Mike Henry of Mesa, AZ. Grandchildren: Andy, Jill, Alex, Ben and Kyle Irland. Brother: William & Merna Irland of Apache Junction, AZ; Sister-in-law: Colleen Irland of Lincoln, NE; Sister-in-law: Shirley Andrews and Bob Howell of Omaha, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bud Irland and sister, Willa Mae & Burt West. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Riverton Cemetery, in Riverton, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Plattsmouth V.F.W. or Open Hearts Kitchen
