Laneil R Stohlmann

LaNeil R. Stohlmann age 74 of Murray, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.  He was born December 26, 1944 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Arnold and Charlotte (Coatman) Stohlmann.

LaNeil grew up on the family farm near Elmwood, Nebraska.  He attended Elmwood High School graduated with the class of 1963.  After High School, he helped his parents with faming duties and also joined the Army Reserves based in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He met and was later married to Nancy L. Mrasek on April 27, 1968 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.  The two made their home on a farm near Murray and raised their two children, Karen and Gary.

A long with farming, LaNeil worked with his father-in-law hauling livestock to the local markets and sale barns.  After giving up farming, he continued his custom hauling work for many years.  He enjoyed attending sales at the local sale barns and visiting with friends.

Since being born around Christmas, he always took delight in gift giving.  He enjoyed the childlike anticipation of giving and receiving gifts.  His grandfather started a tradition of giving family members silver dollars at Christmas, a tradition that LaNeil continued with his grandsons.  When time would allow, he enjoyed time spent fishing with his grandsons and having pie with friends at the café.  He and Nancy also enjoyed time with friends playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold & Charlotte Stohlmann.  Survived by his wife, Nancy Stohlmann of Murray, NE, children, Karen (Page) Peterson of Gothenburg, NE, Gary Stohlmann of Murray, NE, grandchildren, Patrick and Evan Peterson of Gothenburg, NE

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday (1/9) at 1:00 PM  at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel, Plattsmouth, NE with Rev. William McConnell officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday (1/8) from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home

Interment will be in Lewiston Cemetery in Rural Murray, NE.

Memorials may be directed to Murray Volunteer Fire Department or Murray Presbyterian Church
