Livestream (Click Here) Larry E. Olson, age 70, of Pacific Junction, Iowa, formerly of Arpin, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Larry was born to Ernest G. and Verna L. (Weckwerth) Olson on September 6, 1951 in Edgerton, Wisconsin. While growing up, Larry followed in his father’s footsteps by working on the family farm. It was what he was meant to do! He always enjoyed spending time with his cousins at Uncle Willis Weckwerth’s house playing baseball, riding minibikes, and barely stopping long enough to eat! He served his country in the Army from 1971 – 1973, spending the majority of his time in Germany, earning a National Defense Service Medal and Marksman M16 status. Larry was employed by Rotella’s Italian Bakery for 28 years before retiring last year. In his free time, Larry enjoyed fishing with Bob, and taking care of the many animals at his homestead. This included Babe and Arnold, the pot-bellied pigs, Laverne and Shirley, the goats, and about 60 chickens and ducks. He had a special place in his heart for the family pets and did his very best to spoil them! It was obvious that his pets loved him as well. His cat Patches would literally follow him all around the farm. Larry was a true farmer at heart! Larry was able to find true happiness in his recent marriage to Tara Bird on August 17, 2021. He was also able to experience the strong bond shared between father and son in his relationship with his stepson Mike. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn and Marilyn Olson, and his brother Jeffrey Olson. He is survived by his wife Tara Lynn Olson of Pacific Junction, Iowa, stepsons Mike Pautler of Pacific Junction, Iowa, Nathan Pautler of Omaha, Nebraska, 2 grandchildren, and sister Marcia (Patrick) Whalen of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, niece Lori (James) Carlson, nephew Josh Olson, great nephew Brandon Carlson and great nieces Hailey and Amari Olson. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Ryan Maser officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association. Arrangements under the direction of Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home – Plattsmouth, NE 402-296-4445 Condolences to www.bpharveyfuneralhome.com
