Obituary

Leon Arthur Lanier III, age 65 of Murray, Nebraska , passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Nebraska. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on February 24, 1961, to Leon, Jr. and Shirley (Borgeson) Lanier.

Leon grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Tech High School in 1979. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating unwavering commitment and honor.For many years, Leon worked diligently as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Jorgensen Grading, contributing to his profession with pride and dedication. Leon had a deep passion for fishing, a pastime that brought him joy and tranquility. He found great pleasure in singing, particularly within the community of his church, where his love for music flourished. An avid war movie enthusiast. Above all, Leon treasured the moments spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

Leon is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Lanier, daughters Codi, Angie (Derek) Fidler, Amber (Jared) Lashley, sons Robert ( Melissa) Noble, Shawn (Sarah) Lanier; grandkids, Paige, Tanner, Alex, Callait, Keagan, Hawk, Maverick, Azalea; and great grandson, Lionell. He is also survived by his sisters, Belle (Jim) Gonzales, Leslie Hallam and Penny Carlsen.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Hallam, Step-dad, Dean Hallam, and brother Alan Hallam, sister, Mary Pedersen.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Leon will be held at a later date.
