Leonard Holoubek, 92, of Marietta, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lynch, Nebraska, he was the son of the late James and Emma (Kerbel) Holoubek. Leonard was the beloved husband of the late Enid (Ahrens) Holoubek who passed away October 12, 2009. Leonard was a 1938 graduate of Plattsmouth High School, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. He was a 1944 graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York and served as an engineer with the Merchant Marines during WWII. He proudly served in the United State Navy during the Korean War and retired from the Naval Reserves as a Commander. He retired from the position of Cass County Veterans’ Affairs Officer in 1988. Leonard was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. Leonard also retired from his management position with Allied Chemical in LaPlatte, Nebraska in the early 1980s. Leonard enjoyed his family; spending time with his children, grandchildren and siblings and sharing his life with many friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Huskers. He rooted for his grandchildren at every opportunity as they participated in volleyball, soccer, softball, track, cross country, tennis, wrestling, football and lacrosse. Leonard is survived by five children, Alan (Renee Belleville) Holoubek of Scottsdale, AZ, Daniel (Dorothea Stinchcomb) Holoubek of Severna Park, MD, Michael Holoubek (Lauren Fiset Novak) of Towson, MD, Cynthia (Gary) LaBuda of Marietta, and Joseph Holoubek of Arnold, MD; nine grandchildren, Megan, Daniel, Jr., Gretchen, Michael, Jr., Kathryn, Michelle, and Alexander Holoubek, and David and Rachel LaBuda of Marietta, PA; three sisters, Bernice Nolte of Plattsmouth, NE, Darlene Blotzer of Beatrice, NE, and Charline (William) Brookhouser of Columbus, NE; and one brother, James (Brenda Heinz) Holoubek of Scottsdale, AZ. Your life was a blessing, Your memory a treasure, You are loved beyond words, And missed beyond measure. A Funeral Mass will be held March 8th, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Father Loras Grell officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 with family greeting friends from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 5:00 P.M. at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Plattsmouth, N.E.
