Leslie J. “Les” Beister age 76 of Murray, NE passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born on May 23, 1947, in Omaha, Nebraska to Eugene and Pamela (Balmer) Beister.
Les grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Ryan High School in 1965. He later attended Doane University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and later his master’s degree. He and LaDonna Ryberg were united in marriage on February 14, 1975, in Omaha, Nebraska and together raised five children, John, Chuck, Tommy, Jennifer and Kristy. He worked much of his career for Control Data as a Maintenance Engineer, after retiring he did some construction work along with working at Obrien’s Meats.
Les was a longtime member of the Douglas County community and a dedicated volunteer for Douglas County React - Storm Chasing. Les had a deep-rooted passion for automobiles, attending car shows, races, and actively participating in various automotive communities. Les's enthusiasm for restoring cars was evident in their ongoing project of bringing a 1927 roadster back to its former glory.
Not confined to one interest, Les was a true Jack of all Trades. His diverse skill set allowed them to excel in various endeavors, tackling any challenge that came their way with unwavering determination and a can-do attitude. Les found solace in the tranquility of fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Toni Beister of Murray, NE, children, John Beister of Germany, Chuck (Donna) Beister of Sumter, South Carolina, Tommy Elder of Omaha, NE, Jennifer (Jerrod) Hardesty of Plattsmouth, NE and Kristy (Nick ) Snethen of Springfield, NE, grandchildren, Stephanie Beister, Michael Beister, Brandon Beister, Ian Beister, Caryn Bowles, Maddie Hopkins, Autumn Hardesty, Dawson Hardesty, Morgan Goulette, Preston Goulette, Nevan Snethen, great grandchildren, Grace Beister, Blake Lincoln, Rory Beister, Adeline Bowles, David Bowles, Sawyer Hardesty and sister, Christie (Jim) Vanosdall of Omaha, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene, and Pamela Beister.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Harvey Funeral Home, Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 9:00 AM until the time of the Service at the Funeral Home.
The burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the Murray Fire Department.
