Lila A Mcknight

Lila A. McKnight, age 83 of Plattsmouth passed away February 13, 2013 in Bellevue, NE. Lila was born March 28, 1929 in Nebraska City to James Alden and Florence (Gardner) Barta. She graduated from Nebraska City High in 1946. Lila attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where she studied to become a teacher. On August 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to Cecil McKnight in Nebraska City. They raised 4 children James, Thomas, Scott and Lila (Jodi). Lila had many careers in her lifetime. She taught elementary students, was an Avon Representative, Executive Director of Cass Co Arms, but her most important career choice was that of a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent countless hours watching sporting events, musical concerts, dance recitals, working with the Plattsmouth Band Parents and any activity that her family was participating in. Lila was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, board member of the Plattsmouth Senior Center, Cub Scout leader and belonged to the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, card clubs, socializing, traveling with Cecil and friends and was a loyal Husker fan. Lila is survived by her husband, Cecil McKnight of Plattsmouth, NE; children, Dr. James & Sandy McKnight of Plattsmouth, NE, Dr. Thomas & Dr. Evelyn McKnight of Fremont, NE, Dr. Scott & Debbie McKnight of Liberty, MO and Jodi Traut of Omaha, NE; 10 grandchildren, Rev. Debra McKnight & Mike Ramsey of Omaha, NE, Dr. Douglas & Michelle McKnight of Plattsmouth, NE, Dr. Luke & Dr. Erin McKnight of Columbus, OH, Dr. Dustin & Goldie McKnight of Columbia, MO, Dr. Curtis & Dr. Holly McKnight of Columbus, OH, Greg McKnight of Seattle, WA, Dr. Brett & Cassie McKnight of Temple, TX, Dr. Jamie & Brandon Kuss of Kansas City, MO, Dr. Alex McKnight & fiancée Kristen McLaughlin of Omaha, NE and Eric Traut of Omaha, NE; 6 great grandchildren, Samantha, Alden & Clair McKnight, Charlotte & Max McKnight and Lincoln McKnight; sister, Lois Schultz of Nebraska City, NE; niece, Kathy Schultz of Lincoln, NE and nephew, Rick & Joy Weekly of Shawnee, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew Bruce Schultz. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth, NE with Rev. Debra McKnight and Dr. Laura Felleman officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 15th from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
