Louise L. Luttman

January 15, 1914 — July 16, 2010

Louise Lois (Scott) Luttman was born January 15th1914 in Hays, Kansas to Walter E. Scott and Anna (Jensen) Scott. She had two sisters; Ester Bell and husband Harold, and Marie Carmichael, and one brother Robert Scott and wife Betty. They are all deceased except brother Robert Scott. She graduated from Fairbury High School, where her father was Superintendent of Schools, and Peru State Teachers College. She married Harold Luttman August 31, 1935. They had one daughter Carolyn (Luttman) Hopp married to Myron Hopp, and they had one son Scott Luttman. There are four grandchildren: Kevin Hopp and wife Merrell, Karla (Hopp) Day and husband Scott, Cole Luttman, and Kayla Luttman. There are three great grandchildren; Emily Hopp, Jarrett Day and Kale Day, and a special little friend Olivia Graesserr. The children called her G.G. for Great Grandmother. She was very close to the family’s foreign exchange students, Jose deBarros from Brazil, Rita Sarnes from Norway and presently Jose deBarros, called Marcinho, from Brazil who lives with Kevin, Merrell and Emily Hopp. Louise had eight nieces and nephews. Louise and Harold were educators and lived in several places in Nebraska. Their first home was Long Pine, Nebraska. They also lived in Plattsmouth, Trenton, Fremont, Edgar, Meadow Grove, Cook, Springfield, and Hanson Lake. Louise taught country school, Elementary School, Junior High and Senior High School where she taught Math and History, and coached several sports. She taught a total of thirty plus years. She was a member of Eastern Star, Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Club, YMCA and YMCA Senior Group and the Lefler United Methodist Church Senior Citizens Club. They called themselves the Recycled Teenagers. When she lived in Springfield she was an active member of the Springfield United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School there for several years. After she and her husband moved to Hanson Lake she became an active member of the LaPlatte Community Church. She loved the LaPlatte Community Church and she considered the members her very special friends. She was an active member of the Ladies of the Lake and she became an icon of the lake community because in the summer she swam around the cove almost e very evening and took her canoe around the lake. She learned to water ski and was still skiing in her late sixties. In the winter her swimming continued because she went swimming at the YMCA a couple times a week. The last time she went swimming was the first Friday in December 2009. She also loved to read, did the crossword puzzle from the paper every day and crocheted, making table cloths, afghans, angels, snowflakes, and more. After retirement she and her husband did a lot of traveling and she continued to travel after he deceased. She loved her grandchildren and did lots to support them and help them. There are more stories than can possibly be told. She had a wonderfu Memorial Services for Louise L.
